Hello, I’m Pam …
A wine-crazed culinary student (nearly done!) who is a geocaching nut! Facing daily life with my dad (who has Alzheimer’s,) my mom who is his main caregiver, my own children who are grown, loving my husband and trying to fit it all in. What do I want to be when I grow up?? Just what I already am!!
At 40, I finally decided what I wanted to do when I grow up – cook. So, I took a leap and went to culinary school. My life before had been a series of jobs – not career choices. Secretarial, administrative, lots of non-profit work and even video editing. I’d always loved cooking for others and decided to try that…it worked.
Today, I manage the cafe’ at our church. Menu-planning and cooking for Wednesday Dinner and for Sunday breakfast. Wednesdays are a plated dinner with at least three choices and dessert. We’ve served up to 150 people on Wednesdays, but are currently in a transitional period and serving less. Sundays are biscuits & gravy, omelettes, corned beef hash and eggs, breakfast burritios and breakfast sandwiches … all freshly made each Sunday. I love working here; it gives me the allusion of running a restaurant without all the pain and worry!
But, being like you, I have a wide and varied array of interests. I spend a lot of time geocaching with my husband, Steve. We love wine tasting and have even helped in the production of our own wines, made in my brother’s garage! I love photography and takes lots and lots of photos and I love reading. It seems there’s never enough time for my hobbies!! How about you??

Hi Pam,
I just read your story here and really enjoyed what you said about your experiences and what you are doing today.
What fun to be the chef at your church’s kitchen!
My husband likes to letter box but hasn’t done it lately. I’ve gone out a few times around Tucson hunting for the letter boxes and we found a couple together.
I wish I lived closer to Reno so I could visit your kitchen. The descriptions and photos of your dishes always look so yummy!
Have a good week,
your cousin,
Ann
My Grandfather(Hugo Allred) use to own the Snappy Service on 125 South State). I remember my dad( David Allred) stopping by there to see his Dad. He went into business with Jack Ezell supposedly.
I’ve heard of that one. I don’t know there are any in Ogden, either. I believe it’s closed
I’d like to know where a Snappy Service is located. I heard on 24th and Washington in Ogden.
Someday, I’d like to own my own Snappy Service Cafe.
Everything looks AMAZING here I’m really glad Tony told me about your blog! I love looking at foodgawker and know I can add your site to my food blog reads keep up the great work!
Thanks, Karime!
